Chania in the west is, due to the nearby mountains, colder than Agios Nikolaos in the east, the landscape around Sitia has a barren touch, finally in Vai the nearly tropical climate brings forth a vast palm forest.
At least the trees don't bear fruits - egyptian temperatures would be necessary.
